I prefer to 'cheat' the lighting / break rules, in order to make the image clear to the viewer. As for a composition with two characters fighting, they will never have equal signifigance. As an illustrator, you have to be placing the emphasis somewhere. Here are two examples of a lightsaber fight (star wars) 1) : boring. 2) : more dynamicSo I would say it's your job to break rules where necessary if the end result makes the action more clear to the viewer. |
